Taking care of your hairless friend

A Don Sphynx need a little extra care, like other cats, it needs a lot of attention as well as a proper diet, claws that need to be clipped regularly, but it also needs a little more. Becouse a Don Sphynx doesn't have fur it needs to have a bath regularly, how often differs between cats, but about once a week is enough for most cats. You need to clean around the eyes regularly. Becouse they have a heighten ear wax production as well as not having any hair to protect their ears from dirt, ears must be clean also regularly and that is about once in every two weeks. Their toes and skin folds that protect their claws also need to be cleaned, otherwise they can get infected.

Becouse they are hairless, they have a tendency to sit in a sunny window, a heating element or under your blanket. Sweaters are popular becouse they lose body heat so quickly. The loss of body heat is also the reason why they need to eat more than a normal cat. Don Sphynx are not outdoor cats, without hair they have no protection against cold or the sun. They love warm and sunny places. In the summer you can notice some dark spots in their neck, it's not dirty, sun have make spots in their skin, just like we will have :)
